Morocco’s new solar farm is one of the largest in the world, but it’s the largest in Africa. They call it NOOR 1 and it’s located near Ouarzazate in Morocco. It will be build in four phases. The first one was just opened by the Morocco’s king Mohammed VI and there are three more phases to go. When completed it will produce 500 megawatts of electricity and that will be enough to power on million homes. On the edge of the Saharan desert, the plant’s already big enough to generate to 160 megawatts of power and it’s the first power grid capable of being seen from space.
